Every Webpage Needs an Aim

When creating a webpage to market their business a lot of people lose sight of the aim of the page, adding as many ways to make money as possible. It is almost like driving a car in a way, and your webpage being a roundabout, the more exits you have then the more chance there is of you getting lost.

When creating a website, or even a webpage on that website, it is important to have an aim, possible aims are:

  • User buying something
  • User signing up to a newsletter
  • User watching a video
  • User downloading some music
  • User playing a game
  • User sending a message to a friend
  • User creating an account

With so much possible it is even more important to have an aim, for example if you are a direct marketer, you want to get the users details, so you'd have somewhere for them to be entered, you might add a video explaining why they should sign up.

What you should avoid is adding adverts, Google AdSense, free stuff to download, and trying to also sell them something.

You can always use the details you collected to get in touch with them later; a lot of people even say the users details are worth more than anything you could ever sell on the website.

Without an aim, your website will not succeed in ever making you a decent income, you may earn a few dollars occasionally, but you will lose most users due to confusing them. Plan it out like you would a road trip, what do you want the user to do, and how can they do it. Then it is down to you to make the route to the destination as simple as possible.
